PJA is looking for Drainage specialists to support the continuing success of our growing Water Team.

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have the following key characteristics at a suitable level for respective grade/position:
- A passion for green- blue infrastructure, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), nature based solutions.
- Knowledge of (or be able to learn) hydraulic design principles and hydrological processes and be able to apply these.
- Be able to (or learn to) actively promote sustainable drainage solutions within our work.
- Be able to interpret existing information, drawings and modelling data and scope surveys to facilitate the delivery of sustainable solutions.
- Knowledge and experience of applying policy and guidance, ideally including:
- NPPF and PPG
- Sewers for Adoption 7th Edition, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Code of Adoption Agreement
- The SuDS Manual (CIRIA C753) and National Standards for SuDS
- The Water Industry Act, Flood & Water Management Act, Land Drainage Act etc.
- Knowledge and experience of software application, ideally including:
- Causeway Flow
- FEH
- AutoCAD
- GIS.
- Knowledge of designing and delivering preliminary/concept and detailed drainage solutions.
- Ability to consider multi-disciplinary implications to your work and work collaboratively internally and externally to achieve ‘good design’.
- Experience working in collaboration with key stakeholders, typically comprising Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, Local Communities, Canal & River Trust, Internal Drainage Boards etc.
- Understanding of the interdependencies of you work to other aspects of the water sector, in particular with regard to flood risk, water quality and water resources.
- Good report writing and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Have understanding of CDM regulations, including ability to prepare design risk assessments.
- Strong academic background in a relevant science discipline (e.g. a degree in Civil Engineering, or a relevant higher education qualification) and/or extensive experience in a similar position.
- Chartered status or working towards Chartered status (ICE/CIWEM) would be advantageous.
