Our Social Value Policy helps guide our principles and values and forms part of PJA’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

We engage with local communities and our team to support and become actively involved wherever we can to add value beyond profit. Some of our current commitment initiatives include Local Employment, Partners in Communities, Good Employer, Green and Sustainable and Ethical Procurement.

Our Social Value Team comprises of representatives from across our UK offices, enabling us to work on ground level schemes nationally as well as locally. We have supported smaller charities like St Basils, a homeless shelter in Birmingham, as well as larger charities such as Shelter and Save the Children.

Internally, we support teams by offering a diary of social value and wellbeing events which they can choose to take part in and paid volunteer time to spend with a selection of chosen charities. Our Mental Health First Aiders across the business offer additional support to employees and our senior managers are specifically trained so they can better support their teams and each other.

We continue to nurture new talent, with our Graduate Training Programme and work placements proving hugely successful, whilst our STEM Ambassadors support a variety of events bridging the gap between education and employment.

We have recently been reaccredited by the Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility (BBC4SR). This voluntary membership helps support initiatives which are key to Birmingham City Council and we are open to supporting other Local Authorities in this way.

We are committed to paying all employees above the Real Living Wage and are members of the UK Prompt Payment Code, ensuring that our suppliers are paid within 30 days.
