We are pleased to welcome experienced ecologist Amanda Baker to our Nature team, further strengthening our environmental services.
Amanda brings more than 24 years’ experience in ecology and environmental consultancy, having led ecological work on major infrastructure, flood risk management and development projects across the UK. Throughout her career, she has worked collaboratively with engineers, landscape architects, arboriculturists and contractors to deliver practical, sustainable solutions that balance development with the protection and enhancement of nature.
As a Chartered Environmentalist and Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), Amanda has extensive expertise in ecological impact assessment, protected species, habitat management, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) and Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) services. She has led multidisciplinary ecological teams, coordinated complex survey programmes and supported projects from early planning through to construction.
Amanda joins PJA following almost 25 years providing ecological advice for clients including the Environment Agency, National Highways and local authorities. Her portfolio includes major flood risk management schemes, transport infrastructure projects and housing developments, with particular expertise in riparian ecology and protected species.
She also holds a Natural England licence for surveying great crested newts and has built a strong reputation for helping project teams navigate ecological constraints while identifying opportunities to enhance biodiversity and create better places.
Joining our Nature team, Amanda will work with colleagues across the business to integrate ecological expertise into transport, infrastructure and placemaking projects from the earliest stages of design. Her collaborative approach will help clients achieve positive environmental outcomes while delivering practical, proportionate and policy-compliant solutions.
