PJA was appointed by St Modwen Developments Ltd to provide all transport planning inputs to their commercial development at Land West of M42 Junction 10.

The proposals were for up to 20,000sqm of B2/B8 commercial use and the project required the production of a Transport Assessment, Travel Plan and detailed access design.

PJA were involved in significant consultation with Warwickshire County Council and Staffordshire County Council as highway authorities and Highways England to assess the impact of the proposals on the M42 Junction 10.

The impact of development traffic (including HGV’s) on the local and strategic road network was modelled using Junctions 9, LinSig and PARAMICS software. PJA also ensured the highway design was suitable for industrial use and built up to an adoptable standard.

The proposal was granted planning consent in 2014 and is now fully built and occupied and acts as a distribution centre for a large national retailer.

In 2014 PJA were subsequently appointed by St. Modwen Developments Ltd to provide transport planning inputs  for a larger commercial development on Land East of the M42 Junction 10, for up to 80,000sqm of B1c/B2 and B8 uses.

This larger development required the production of a detailed Transport Assessment, input into an Environmental Impact Assessment, the detailed design of the vehicular access and the design of shared footway/cycleway proposals on the adjacent A5 and surrounding local roads.

PJA secured no objection from the local highway authority and Highways England for the scheme, however the scheme was refused on planning grounds.

PJA and appeared at Planning Inquiry for the scheme in 2016 which was subsequently approved by the Planning Inspector.
