PJA was appointed by Bloor Homes to provide transport planning and engineering inputs for land at Temple Laugherne Farm in Worcester for the development of 1,400 dwellings.
The proposed scheme formed part of a wider strategic allocation for West Worcester, which comprised in excess of 2,000 dwellings, a local centre, new primary school and a new link road.
The project required the preparation of a detailed Transport Assessment, utilising the strategic Worcester Transport Model, input into the Environmental Impact Assessment, the detailed design of vehicular access points and the design and testing of mitigation schemes.
Working closely with the team promoting the other elements of the wider allocation, PJA successfully negotiated details relating to the link road connecting through the allocation, cumulative impacts on the highway network and proportional contributions to the Worcester Transport Strategy.
A detailed Public Transport package was also devised, promoting a new bus service through the site and the wider allocation. PJA facilitated the public transport strategy in consultation with Worcestershire County Council.
PJA worked closely with the highway and planning authority to secure a recommendation for approval and the application was granted planning consent in July 2018.
PJA subsequently gained technical approval for the three S278 junctions, including the final off-site junction improvement for future traffic mitigation, with a view to starting to build on site later this year.
