Millbrook Park is a residential development on the outskirts of Barnet, London. The vision for the site is to create a thriving, sustainable community with homes that are designed to suit today’s lifestyles. Once fully built out the site will encompass 2,240 properties, developed in 15 phases, alongside a range of community facilities.

Since January 2020, PJA have been appointed as Residential Travel Plan Coordinator (TPC) for Millbrook Park by Rapleys, on behalf of Inglis Consortium.

At the start of the commission, PJA prepared a bespoke Travel Information Pack for residents using our in-house graphic design team. This pack has provided residents with information about the sustainable travel options available to them, and details of the incentives that are available.

PJA understand that in order for a Travel Plan to be effective, there needs to be a strong marketing and information strategy. In line with the consented Travel Plan for the site, PJA will be using a range of methods to promote and encourage the uptake of sustainable modes amongst residents, including:

  • Organising and attending on-site travel events;
  • Briefing sales staff on-site;
  • Undertaking personalised travel planning with residents;
  • Chairing and organising a Travel Plan Steering Group for all key stakeholders;
  • Providing and monitoring uptake of sustainable travel incentives for residents, for example e.g. Car Club membership, Walking/Cycling vouchers etc.
  • Preparation of annual newsletters; and
  • Preparation of content for dedicated website to advertise local sustainable travel options and incentives.

In order to ensure that these marketing methods are as effective as possible, PJA have built a strong working relationship with the on-site management company, Mainstay, and the Primary School. This has been vital to encouraging residents to actively participate in the Travel Plan.

To monitor the effectiveness of the Travel Plan, PJA will be undertaking biennial monitoring surveys that are TRICs SAM compliant.

Throughout the duration of the project, PJA have worked closely with the client, and highway authority to ensure that the travel planning obligations for the site are met in a timely, and cost-effective manner.
