PJA was appointed by St. Modwen Homes to provide all transport planning inputs to their promotion of land at Whittington Road, Worcester for the development of up to 180 dwellings and a care home.

The land was formerly used as Government offices for the Department for the Environmental and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and was allocated for mixed use development within the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP), adopted on the 25th February 2016.

The project required the preparation of a detailed Transport Assessment, utilising the strategic Worcester Transport Model, input into the Environmental Impact Assessment, the detailed design of vehicular access points.

PJA also had significant involvement in the design of the masterplan, including carriageway and footway geometries, input into shared space design, justification for the level of parking provision and ensuring the layout was appropriate for all servicing vehicles.

The first phase of the scheme for up to 120 dwellings was granted planning consent in 2016 and construction began in 2017.

PJA has subsequently been retained by St. Modwen Homes to assist with the planning application for Phase 2, including 60 residential dwellings and a care home.
