It is already halfway through 2024, and therefore a perfect opportunity to reflect on the brilliant first half of the year that we have achieved as a team.

Firstly, we have welcomed nine new team members across all our offices, sectors and service areas over the last six months, signifying a great start to the year in terms of growth, and we are certain each new member will bring huge value to our team.

The exciting advancement of inviting Dr Ana Togridou to our team as Nature Lead – Scientist (Technical Director) reflects our companywide endeavour to lead both our team and wider industry thinking towards sustainable solutions. Through unified methods, Ana will empower our team and our projects by enabling us to create better places through great design in a way that prioritises nature.

Both our Reading and Bristol offices have moved into larger, contemporary spaces in order to accommodate our growing team. Speaking on our Reading office’s move into the innovative TW12VE, Regional Director Jerry Muscroft said: “With spaces to work, network and relax, it’s our home for the foreseeable future as we continue to grow and excel in what we do best.”

We are very excited to have been shortlisted for a number of awards this year, which include being finalised for not one, not two, not three, but four of the New Civil Engineer Awards! These include nominations for: Best Place to Work – SME Consulting Firm; SME Consulting Firm of the Year; Impact in Local Transport; and Impact in Water and Environment, which, if successful, would further highlight our successful work in the re-naturalisation of the River Rea in Longbridge.

As well as these awards, another project which we are extremely proud to have worked on, the Mansfield Town Centre Design Code, has enabled us to be shortlisted for two awards alongside Mansfield District Council: the RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence in the ‘Best Plan’ category, and the Planning Awards in the ‘Award for Plan-making’ category.

With all these factors combined, it is easy to see that PJA have had a remarkable six months in many ways, but especially in terms of team development, our pursuit towards industry influence, as well as esteemed recognition for our work. We look forward to discovering what the remainder of 2024 brings.
