The health of Solihull Town Centre is important both for the economic health of the town and also for the wellbeing of the people who live here. There are many things needed to ensure the health of a town centre but one important aspect is the quality of its streets and public spaces.

Working alongside MADE, PJA were commissioned by Solihull MBC to develop a public realm framework for Solihull town centre.

PJA worked in consultation with key local stakeholders and officers to create a framework to enable enhancement of the public realm of Solihull town centre, to refocus on the ‘place making’ junction of streets and spaces for the use of people.

The framework aims to build upon the ideas and issues identified in a series of key workshop sessions with the aim to enhance the image of the town and provide a better place in which to live, work and visit.

The framework aims to ensure that the public realm within the town centre works as hard as it can, supporting Solihull’s economic health as well as providing a place where people enjoy spending time, some improvements are needed.
