Alex Painting
Alex has 5 years’ experience as a transport consultant, supporting a diverse range of planning applications across the UK. His experience covers residential, commercial, industrial, hospital and solar farm schemes, preparing Transport Assessments and Travel Plans, as well as preliminary access/active travel/highway design, pre- and post-planning consultation work, and public consultation engagement. Alex has also prepared Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans and has experience in active travel design assurance for Active Travel England.
In 2024, Alex completed his MSc in Transport Engineering and Planning at the University of the West of England, awarded a distinction overall, as well as for his dissertation project, which has been nominated for the Voorhees-Large Prize, for the best transport Master’s dissertation submitted by a UK resident. Alex presented his findings on the issue of cycle storage and access in terraced houses at the Cycling Research Board Annual Meeting in 2024 and will be presenting at the Transport Practitioners Meeting in 2025.
Alex is now working towards the Transport Planning Professional qualification through CIHT.
