Next up in our series is Accounts Assistant, Ricky Kelly, based in our Birmingham office:

Tell us what you do at PJA

I’m a Finance Assistant, meaning I process people’s expenses along with a lot of other finance-related tasks such as seeking approval to pay invoices.

What’s your career path so far?

My first proper external job (outside of doing stuff for the family) was being a silver service waiter at high-end sporting events or concerts within their executive suites or individual boxes – I worked at various events from the Open at St Andrews in Scotland to cricket events at Lords.

I’ve been in customer service ever since, working in various roles such as in banks and for a mobile phone company. My longest role was working for an employee benefit company for 10 years.

What do you enjoy when you’re not working?

Some may know I’m a big Aston Villa fan and I travel around to every game in the country. Recently, with Villa competing in the Europa Conference League, I travelled to all but 2 of the European away games, and I will be going to England’s quarter final match this weekend.

Are you a dog or cat person?

I prefer dogs I think – I’ve never had a pet, but I do like dogs especially.

What are you currently reading or listening to?

It’s been a while since I read a book, but I think the last I read was Piers Morgan’s autobiography about 5 years ago!

Claim to fame?

I don’t think I really have any. In my silver service waiting role, you meet a lot of celebrities within the boxes and executive suites, but cant engage much as you’re meant to be working.

I used to be a child model for M&S when I was extremely young and until it went downhill!

And I also managed to get a picture with Gary Lineker at Burger King in Euston station.
