Next up in our series is Technician, Nathan Mace, based in our Birmingham office:
Tell us what you do at PJA
I am a technician within the infrastructure team assisting engineers with drawing production. I also assist other teams in the company with General CAD work.
What’s your career path so far?
I joined PJA at 16, coming straight out of high school to become an apprentice. During my apprenticeship I achieved a Level 3 BTEC Diploma and an Engtech with the ICE. I am now at university working my way to a degree.
During my time at PJA I have worked with the Geo team assisting them with CAD work, and I have also worked with the highways team for 9 months to learn about S278 Designs and assist with their workload.
What do you enjoy when you’re not working?
When I am not working, I enjoy playing football and going on runs. I also travel down to London to watch the Arsenal.
Are you a dog or cat person?
Dogs are obviously better.
What are you currently reading or listening to?
I am not much of a reader, but I listen to various podcasts like the Ben Foster podcast, Stick To Football and the Peter Crouch podcast.
Claim to fame?
I don’t really have a claim to fame apart from the fact when Arsenal played Spurs a couple seasons ago, I featured in the top right-hand corner of their Instagram post. And on the last day of the season, I saw Martin Keown before the game walking towards the stadium.
Nathan Mace, Technician
Nathan is beginning his career as an apprentice learning valuable skills in CAD and Site3D. He is also studying for a level 3 Civil Engineering Technician qualification at Solihull College. He aims to improve his skills and knowledge at PJA in the different aspects of road design to become an engineer.
